Maeve, born Michael DuVally, is a consultant for corporations and other entities on communications strategy and diversity, equity and inclusion. She also spends time mentoring transgender people and is a frequent speaker on LGBTQ+ workplace issues.
For over 18 years, Maeve worked at Goldman-Sachs, where she ended up holding the position of managing director in corporate communications. In 2019, a journalist from the NY Times followed her at work for her first day as Maeve, after years of coming to work as Michael; Maeve was suddenly in the spotlight. Before joining Goldman-Sachs, Maeve worked in media relations at Merrill Lynch, and prior to that, the was a financial journalist and editor at Bridge news, working in places as diverse at Tokyo, Washington D.C. and finally NY. She spent ten years in Japan, and holds a special bond with that country. Maeve serves on the boards of GLAAD; the Knight-Bagehot Fellowship, a journalism non-profit; Connecticut-based LGBTQ+ health provider Anchor Health Initiative; and Trans New York. She earned a B.A. in English from Providence College in 1983 and was a Knight-Bagehot Fellow at Columbia University Graduate School of Journalism School in 1994. Her new book, “Maeve Rising”, published by Sybilline Press, will come out on August 15th.
